The UK rail enthusiast's resource

About Gricers.co.uk

For those who don't know, a "gricer" is an old term for a rail enthusiast, dating from steam days.

This site aims to be a complete resource for rail traction enthusiasts in the UK.  The webmaster's main interest is BR-era diesel traction, so we make no apologies for any bias shown towards that era.

If you're wondering, yes, the colours used on this site are BR Blue (Monastral Blue) and BR Grey (Astral Grey). It seemed appropriate.

A word about copyright

Many images on this site have been located online. It is NOT our intention to steal anyone's copyright. There are several examples of BR classes where no examples survive to preservation, and it is therefore impossible to obtain new photographs.  If you see a photo of yours on here, drop us a line and we'll make sure you're credited for your work.  And be flattered that we've used your image.

If you really want to be selfish and not share your image then provide us with some kind of proof, or a declaration that it's your photo, and we'll remove it.  But we would ask (nicely) that you don't request a removal, and allow us to keep the image with a credit added.

Again, it's not our intention to steal anyone's photos. We want to create an accurate historic record of UK rail traction.
